Located at the historic Movie Filming Location for Pacific Studios Where the First Talking Film was Made – Al Jolson in “The Jazz Singer”. The building now designated 444 Peninsula Avenue, San Mateo, CA 94401, served as the dressing rooms for various film stars.
1. From Hwy 101 Northbound, from any point south of San Mateo — if you come from the East Bay across Hwy 92, the San Mateo Bridge, take the San Francisco exit [north] [same if from west on 92] and proceed as follows: Go north to the Peninsula Exit. Heading west on Peninsula, away from the Freeway, you go though one stop light at Humboldt, and another at Delaware [by the Chevron station]. Proceed west 2 blocks — you will see a Shell station on your left. Turn left at the Shell station — that is Woodside Way — and left again right behind the station. That brings you into a long parking lot. You will pass the Board of Realtors, and the next building on your right is 444 Peninsula. When you leave, you can pick up 101 north off Peninsula. If going south, go east on Peninsula to Humboldt, turn right and proceed to Poplar, turn left and get back on Hwy. 101.
2. If coming down Hwy 101 Southbound, from points north [e.g., from San Francisco International], take the first San Mateo exit at Poplar. Proceed west to the first stop light and turn right — that places you on Humboldt Street. Proceed north to the next stop light and turn left — which puts you on Peninsula. Proceed through the light at Delaware, then proceed west 2 blocks — you will see a Shell station on your left. Turn left at the Shell station — that is Woodside Way — and left again right behind the station. That brings you into a long parking lot. You will pass the Board of Realtors, and the next building on your right is 444 Peninsula.
3. From El Camino Real. Turn east on Peninsula [toward the Freeway], cross the railroad tracks, and proceed east till you see the Shell station on your right. Turn right at the Shell station — that is Woodside Way — and left again right behind the station. That brings you into a long parking lot. You will pass the Board of Realtors, and the next building on your right is 444 Peninsula.
4. From Delaware going North: Take Delaware north to Peninsula Avenue. Turn left on Peninsula by the Chevron station, then proceed west 2 blocks — you will see a Shell station on your left. Turn left at the Shell station — that is Woodside Way — and left again right behind the station. That brings you into a long parking lot. You will pass the Board of Realtors, and the next building on your right is 444 Peninsula.
Parking: Park in the spaces for Suites 2 or 3, or at the end of the building; come in at Suite 3.
